Linden Homes Raises £15,000 For Local Charity
27 Jun 2019

Over £15,000 has been raised by Guildford-based housebuilder, Linden Homes for its charity of the year, Yorda Adventures following a football match event, raffle and auction.

The charity football match saw ‘The Linden Homes Lions’ take on players from Galamast Construction, which is currently working on a number of the housebuilders developments across the Southern region. The match, which took place at Farnborough Football Club, was a highly competitive yet friendly game seeing ‘The Galamast Goats’ defeating Linden Homes in a final score of 0-3. Spectators also enjoyed an evening of food and drink with live music from ‘The Hattie Jacques’.

Yorda Adventures is a not-for-profit community organisation based in Chessington, that provides play and short breaks for children with severe learning disabilities. 'Yorda' is how Reuben, one of the children who inspired the charity to begin, says 'Laura' (founder) and 'Adventures' symbolises the unique, fun experiences the charity wants to provide to all the children and young people supported by them.

Phil Chapman, managing director of Linden Homes South, said: “The football match was a great event to get the community, friends and families of both teams together whilst raising money for such an invaluable service that Yoda Adventures provides. With Linden Homes being defeated, I’m sure a call for a second match will be on the horizon but well done and thank you to Galamast Construction for their participation in this great cause.”

Laura Smyth, Founder of Yorda Adventures, said: “Being able to raise such a fantastic amount of money, while having fun in the process, is just phenomenal! We are so grateful to Linden Homes for hosting and all fundraisers for donating in support of our charity.

“We run support projects 49 weeks of the year, employ 38 local people as our playworkers and 75 families regularly access our services, so we are truly grateful for all fundraising which is essential for us to continue to provide the services that help make a difference to the families and children we support.”
