Array Of Green Measures Cut Environmental Impact
23 Apr 2014

Linden Homes has been implementing an array of green measures to shrink its environmental footprint.

This action is started before the houses are even built so, for example, the on-site portable cabins from which the projects are run use energy saving systems and even water-reducing devices in the toilets.

Recycling is another important strategy and in the South West 97 per cent of waste is diverted from landfill by putting time and effort into carefully segregating materials during construction.

The aggregates, such as sand and stone, are often recycled; excavated soil is re-used; and the timber is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. Log burners, triple glazing and solar panels have been used and a wind turbine is being erected for a forthcoming development.

Linden Homes’ managing director, Nigel Palmer said: “There’s no single way to shrink your environmental footprint but by focussing on it in everything we do, we are making a difference.

“Importantly, that continues after homebuyers have moved in - by cutting carbon emissions with highly efficient insulation, double glazing and state-of-the-art boilers. As the homes are more energy efficient and eco friendly it will have a positive impact on their energy bills too.”

Linden Homes is currently selling a range of one, two, three and four bedroom homes in Exeter, Exminster, Goodrington, Okehampton, Westward Ho!, Plymouth, Liskeard, Duporth, Grampound, Truro, Wadebridge and Redruth.
