Bricklayer Lee Northcott has managed to raise an impressive £1,600 for Asthma UK, by shaving all his hair off at Linden Homes’ Church Walk development in Newton Abbot, where he works.
Lee hadn’t had his hair cut since his daughter, Charlotte, sadly passed away in November 2017, aged 23. Lee explained: “Charlie was born eight weeks premature and was eventually diagnosed as a brittle asthmatic, suffering from complex partial seizures. She’d been told she wouldn’t make it through the night when she was born but she kept fighting, overcoming pneumonia, skin cancer, a perforated bowel, lung surgery and many asthma attacks. Charlotte was so young but she’d achieved lots in her precious few years; completing an English Literature degree at university and marrying her partner. She was a real fighter.
“I don’t know why I haven’t had my hair cut since Charlie passed away but it suddenly felt like the right time to brave the shave and raise money and awareness for Asthma UK. I’m delighted that we managed to raise so much, Charlie would have been laughing away while I was being shaved and waxed!”
Shaun Pike, site manager at Linden Homes’ Church Walk development, added: “Lee is an amazing man and his fundraising has inspired us all on site. Site manager, Allan Britton said he’d join Lee in having his head shaved if Lee managed to raise £200 and thanks to the donations on site, and from Linden Homes and Sement – who Lee works for – Allan had to stand by his word! We’re so pleased for Lee, what a fantastic achievement in memory of his beautiful daughter.”
The team are creating new homes at Church Walk, near Highweek on the leafy outskirts of Newton Abbot. The sales and marketing suite is open daily, just off Exeter Road, Newton Abbot, TQ12 6PP, call 01626 221 688.
