Linden Homes Western has announced that Children’s Hospice South West will be its charity of the year for 2017.
Children’s Hospice South West has three hospices near Bristol, Barnstaple and St Austell. The hospices are open to families with children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and help to build precious memories and offer much-needed support.
Janey Hellmen, corporate partnerships fundraiser for Children’s Hospice South West, said: “We need to raise more than £9 million a year in order to run our three hospices and we are almost entirely funded by voluntary donations, so each and every penny raised makes a huge difference to the families we support. We are extremely grateful to Linden Homes for helping us to continue to make the most of short and precious lives.”
Chris Harris, managing director for Linden Homes Western, visited one of the hospices and said: “We are very pleased to support such a wonderful charity that makes a huge difference to many families across the south west. As a father, I thought it was going to be very difficult to visit the Charlton Farm hospice in Wraxall but I was surprised at just how colourful and vibrant it was. Not only were there soft play areas with ball pits and play houses, but there was a gaming room, a jacuzzi and a sensory room, all set in beautiful grounds.
“We will do our best to raise as much money for this very worthwhile charity as we can, from golf days to dress down Fridays, bake sales to cycle rides, we’ll ensure we make a difference.”
