BRICKS and mortar have made it onto the timetable for students at Bedfordshire school – giving them the opportunity to find out more about the construction industry.
A group of Year 10 youngsters from the Stratton Upper School were invited to take a look around one of the area’s newest housing projects by Linden Homes Midlands, as part of their City & Guilds 6218 Level 1 Certificate in Construction.
The recent launch of Linden Homes Midlands’ Harvest Meadow development in Dunton will boasts 24 homes. A show home has recently opened to the public and a number of the new homes have already been reserved from plan.
Site manager Carl Haskell chatted to the students about the building and finishing process related to the development’s newly-opened four-bedroom show home, as well as given an insight into how a property is constructed.
Linden Homes sales manager Warren O’Callaghan said: “We always enjoy welcoming school groups to our developments, giving the youngsters an insight into the construction industry and the many complex but interesting elements of house building.
“We were delighted to host a visit by such an enthusiastic group of students – and potential home buyers of the future - at our Dunton development.”
Teacher Scott Jenkins added: “This has been a great experience for the students to find out first hand about the various elements that go into building homes. They will go back to the classroom armed with fresh knowledge which will stand them in excellent stead for the next part of their course.”
Harvest Meadow - located less than four miles from Biggleswade – is a small but carefully designed selection of two, three and four-bedroom homes providing housing choice for everyone from first time buyers, growing families and those looking for a smaller, more manageable property.
Linden Homes Midlands sales director Chris Roads said: “Interest in this development is gathering pace, with potential buyers recognising the many benefits offered by the village and surrounding area – with all but five of the new homes now reserved.”
