Exciting New Landmark Waterfront Development In Plymouth...
27 Mar 2015

...Receives Resolution To Grant Planning Permission

Linden Homes has received a resolution to grant planning consent to build a landmark development in Plymouth, including an eye-catching building with stunning views overlooking the Sound, subject to agreeing the final details with the chair of planning, vice chair, officers, ward councillors and shadow leader.

Taking its inspiration from a ship, the impressive 11-storey-high building will create a grand entrance to the area on the marina’s furthest pier, featuring 64 luxury apartments with spectacular sea views.

Designed by Burke Rickhards Architects, the development will also feature two other contemporary apartment buildings, creating 34 and 44 apartments each.

Nigel Palmer, managing director for Linden Homes said: “We are incredibly excited to be working on such a memorable development. We’ve worked hard with officers at Plymouth City Council and with the local community to shape a scheme that will be a landmark building at the gateway to the city.

“Architecturally, the development is going to be very striking and will really fulfil the potential of this prestigious waterfront location – it will definitely have the wow factor!”

The Millbay Marina Village redevelopment has been carefully designed to be appropriate for the marine environment and reflect Plymouth’s local heritage. It will also provide pedestrian access to the pier and unprecedented views of Plymouth Sound, Drakes Island and Mount Edgcumbe.

The project represents a significant investment in excess of £40 million in the Millbay area and an estimated 1.5 local jobs will be created both on site and in the supply chain for each of the 142 new homes built.

Linden Homes will give Plymouth City Council a contribution to affordable housing in excess of £1 million, as well as £400,000 to fund improvements in Stonehouse, including expansion of a primary school, building a new doctor’s surgery and upgrading the pitches at Stonehouse Creek.

Work is expected to start later this year, with a final completion date projected in 2020.
