Homebuyers See The Beauty In Poldark Country
28 Aug 2019

When parts of Cornwall were featured in BBC’s popular TV series Poldark, it wasn’t long before people wanted to move to Poldark country – proving location is everything when it comes to buying a new home!

Much of the action in the series takes place outdoors, against the backdrop of Cornwall’s breathtaking and rugged coastline. Charlestown, near St Austell, and Linden Homes’ Coast @ Two Coves development in Duporth, boasts an original Grade ll listed harbour and is famed for its collection of tall ships – perfect for Poldark author, Winston Graham’s 18th century setting.

It is not the first time Charlestown has been singled out, location managers have used the village for a number of filming projects, including Doctor Who, Rebecca, Alice in Wonderland, Moll Flanders and Mansfield Park.

Emma Colin, sales and marketing director at Linden Homes, commented: “Reservations and visitor levels at Coast @ Two Coves increased when the TV series highlighted the beautiful local scenery. The ‘Poldark effect’ definitely had an impact on sales; we reserved 38 per cent more homes after it first aired and I’m not surprised, as this particular corner of Cornwall is such a stunning part of the world.

“I love how the programme showcased Cornwall, so everyone around the country can appreciate it too.”

Rightmove also reported that searches for property in Poldark’s filming locations in Cornwall more than doubled after the first series alone.

Emma added: “The south west has a magnetic attraction, people who live here try to keep its appeal a secret and those that visit never want to leave, so I’m pleased it had the same effect on the location managers!

“Cornwall is one of the best places to live, there is rugged coastline, unspoilt beaches, hidden coves, thriving towns, a city with a rich heritage, picturesque villages, rolling hills and atmospheric moors – it really does have something for everyone.

“Coast @ Two Coves has been completed and we’re currently creating high quality new homes nearby in Swanpool, Falmouth. The View @ Swanpool features just 28 luxury homes in the most amazing location, with incredible ocean views. When it comes to location, Poldark country is definitely hard to beat!”

Comprising a beautiful collection of two bedroom apartments and four bedroom detached houses, the homes are being built to a high specification with integrated appliances and stone worktops. The contemporary coastal design includes natural stone, feature panels, vaulted ceilings and glazed balconies – making the most of its prime location.

The development is open Fridays to Mondays from 10am to 5pm, with late night opening on Thursdays from 12pm until 7pm. Visit the marketing suite off Swanpool Road, Swanpool, Falmouth, TR11 5BG, call 01326 741161.
