International Women’s Day: How Natasha’s strength and resilience through adversity contributed to promotion

Natasha Palmer has been promoted to area sales director of Vistry Western, which builds properties for Bovis Homes and Linden Homes.

However, the last few years haven’t been plain sailing for Natasha and International Women’s Day on 8th March provides the perfect opportunity to celebrate her achievements and strength.

Natasha lives in Claverham with her husband and their 10 year old son and five year old twins ?" a son and daughter. She has just overcome breast cancer, which she was battling during the pandemic, while juggling a career and a busy family life.

Regional sales director, Sue Scholfield commented: “Natasha has been incredible and has shown such determination at one of the most difficult periods of her life. She wanted to continue working throughout her treatment, where possible, and her commitment and approach to life in general has been outstanding.

“At times of adversity, it takes real strength to continue but to succeed like Natasha has done shows what an incredible area sales director and woman she is. She’s the person you want in your team. A leader needs to be someone that you respect and admire and Natasha has floored us all with her resilience and her knowledge. Her dedication and passion for the job has never been more apparent and I’m delighted she’s been recognised; Natasha fully deserves this promotion.”

Natasha has a degree in media communication with combined studies from the University of Gloucestershire and has followed her family’s footsteps by working in the housing industry. Her father owned a construction company and employed over 200 people where they built projects for St Monica’s Trust and Railtrack. She has also worked for Connells estate agents and Barratt Homes.

After joining the company as a part-time sales consultant in 2017, Natasha’s career soon blossomed. While juggling a young family, she was quickly promoted to field sales manager and then regional sales manager before her recent promotion.

With over 18 years’ experience in the industry, she is responsible for over 20 people and her job involves managing sales and the budgets, preparing new releases and sites, overseeing the sales hubs and ensuring an excellent customer journey.

Natasha, who had a passion for ballet and musical theatre at a young age, performed on the 1994 UK tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat with Darren Day and Phillip Schofield. She commented: “It’s certainly been a difficult couple of years for me but having the support of my family, friends and Vistry has been a huge comfort. It enabled me to handle things in my own way and in my own time, and I was very grateful to have the distraction of work.

“I like the challenges my role brings and this was heightened during the pandemic when we were finding safe ways to help people move to their new homes. Whether the market is buoyant or quiet, there are always so many different aspects to consider and I’m constantly learning.

“I love my job and enjoy working alongside my regional sales director, Sue Scholfield. She’s been a fantastic mentor for me and is definitely one of a kind! Supporting women and recognising their strength is how we will encourage more women into the industry and it’s something I will continue to do. I feel proud to have progressed my career in what is still a male-dominated industry, during a very difficult stage of my life. My experience has taught me that life is far too short already and it’s all about supporting each other’s visions. My children have seen how important strength and determination are and I hope they are able to find a profession they enjoy as much as I do.”

The theme for International Women’s Day 2022 is #breakthebias, where successes are highlighted, awareness is raised against bias and action is taken for equality. For further information on International Women’s Day visit www.internationalwomensday.com
