Linden Homes And Foulds Primary School Create History
11 May 2017

Pupils from Foulds Primary School swapped classroom for construction site to give future Linden Homes residents a glimpse of Barnet in 2017.

Teaming up with Linden Homes Chiltern, pupils from years 1 – 6 collected a variety of items that meant something to them as children growing up in 2017. A variety of keepsakes including newspaper cuttings, toys, recent cinema tickets and stamps were placed in the time capsule, which pupils then buried at the housebuilder’s new development in Barnet, Elmbank.

Linked to the burial, Foulds Primary School also ran a school wide art competition themed on the life of a child in 2017. Selected by the primary school, a winner from every year group joined history coordinator, Rebecca Tree, and the Linden Homes team on site, to assist with the time capsule burial.

Rebecca Tree, history coordinator at Foulds Primary School, said:

“The children were delighted be involved with a development that’s just on their doorstep, and will benefit our community in years to come with new housing and job opportunities.

“Visiting the site was, especially for our younger pupils, their first insight into construction which made for an incredibly memorable occasion. We hope that if the time capsule is found in years to come that our buried treasure will provide future generations of Barnet an insight into what life was like in 2017.”

Once complete, Elmbank will consist of two and three bedroom apartments alongside three, four and five bedroom houses, all just a five-minute walk from the primary school. The most recent phase of apartments were released early due to high demand in the area, and of the 35 available, 65% have already been bought off-plan.

Linden Homes Chiltern’s sales and marketing director, Simon Pendlebury, commented:

“It was our pleasure to welcome and host the pupils of Foulds Primary School and to show them our current build progress at Elmbank. The pupils will be growing up alongside the development so we were thrilled to give them the opportunity to put together the time capsule and leave their lasting mark on what we hope will become a pillar of the community.”

Elmbank is less than 15 miles from London but surrounded by green and open space, giving residents a balance of city and country living. For more information on the development or to register your interest, please call 02038 115 283. The sales and marketing suite is open daily from 10am to 5pm.
