Linden Homes Foundation Celebrates First Full Year Of Achievement
11 Apr 2014

The Linden Homes Foundation is celebrating its first full year of supporting worthy causes up and down the country.

The initiative is a national pledge by the award-winning housebuilder to focus beyond the construction site and develop sustainably by investing in the communities, people and environment where it builds.

Launched in June 2012, it has raised thousands for charity, taken action to protect wildlife, and devoted money, time and resources to support local groups.

The efforts of the Foundation were recognised in March when Linden Homes scooped the prestigious Housebuilder of the Year title for the second year running at the Ideal Home Show Blue Ribbon Awards. This accolade followed the company being named Large Housebuilder of the Year at the Housebuilder Awards 2013 in November, where it also won the Sustainable Housebuilder of the Year.

On The Linden Homes Foundation website there has accumulated an archive of more than 300 stories recording its positive work in the following three area- People & Customers, Environment & Climate Change, and Sustainable Communities.

Examples include stepping in with funding to help villagers in Upper Froyle, Hampshire, restore their Millennium Map back to its former glory. The map, installed on a green, has special significance as one of three created by combining the works of 15 local artists.

At the other end of England in Northumberland, stone and timber was donated from the Centurion Park development in Haltwhistle to be turned into a sheep shelter to give protection for lambs in the spring.

And in the Midlands, staff at the Peterborough office raised £3,000 for the fight against prostate cancer by growing Movember moustaches in aid of the Mo Bros charity.

Andrew Richards, Linden Homes Group managing director, said: “We’re very proud of the achievements of The Foundation, which demonstrates how seriously we take our pledge of sustainability and local involvement.

“What’s particularly pleasing about The Foundation is the sheer variety of examples where our staff, customers and neighbours from across the country have got involved and made a tangible difference to people, communities and the environment.

“We’re determined to sustain this effort and continue to support local neighbourhoods while delivering high quality, much-needed homes in thriving places where people are eager to live.”
