Linden Homes 'Gladiators' Crowned Charity Champions

Funraisers from Linden Homes Midlands have been crowned charity champions in their gladiatorial efforts to boost coffers to help sick children.

Answering the battle cry from a national charity to help youngsters’ dreams come true were epic fundraisers from the Peterborough-based developer.

Taking on five other teams in the Dreamflight’s Great Escape race to find clues, complete challenges and raise as much cash as possible were members of the technical and land departments; Mark Bond, Alex Clark, Elgan Daniel and Gary Martin – known as The Dream Team.

Gary and the team collected more than £2,500 following their day of 40+ challenges - which took them on a 200 mile round trip to Bedfordshire, Leicestershire and Nottingham.

Their efforts have been rewarded with trophies for Overall Winners of the challenge-based event and for Most Money Raised Overall.

They received the accolades at the charity’s fundraising dinner and presentation ceremony at Bedford Golf Club.

Head of technical, Gary Martin was the driving force behind putting the team together – supporting a charity which helped his own young daughter.

Gary said: “Once a year, the charity takes 192 deserving children with a serious illness or disability from all over the UK to Florida to spend 10 magical days of fun and excitement.

“The children leave their families behind giving them an opportunity to discover independence, confidence, and a whole new outlook on life. Often for the first time, these children realise that they are not alone.

“It was an amazing event for us to be involved with and we are delighted that our contribution will make such a difference.”
