Leading housebuilder Linden Homes is proud to be celebrating the fifth anniversary of its Foundation, a nationwide initiative from the developer, to unite the company’s efforts across the country into a pledge to bring real, tangible benefits to the cities, towns and villages where it is building homes.
Reflecting on another successful year of the Foundation, Linden Homes celebrates its engagement with over 10,000 pupils, in the form of schools, colleges and universities over the last year helping to nurture the possible talent of the future for the industry.
From school library donations to time capsule burials and from site safety presentations to art competitions, Linden Homes has been working with local schools and pupils up and down the country over the last twelve months.
Recently, pupils at Oakfield Junior School in Fetcham were lucky enough to take part in Linden Homes' 'design your dream bedroom' competition, with the winning design being installed in Linden Homes' nearby development, River Walk.
Linden’s Eastern division linked up with students at Harlow College to redesign a double garage to become a state-of-the-art sales office. This challenge was set to the Level 3 Construction students at the college, with a view to helping them to extend their work outside of the classroom by applying theory to a real-life scenario. The students were provided an insight into how redesign projects are handled on a live site, as part of Linden Homes’ ongoing commitment to encouraging the future employees of the construction and housebuilding industry.
On the other side of the country, in Pontefract, students of Pontefract's Cherry Tree Academy made history with Linden Homes, when they were given the opportunity to put together and bury a time capsule at the housebuilder's West Yorkshire development. All array of items associated with the Yorkshire town were collated to represent what it means to grow up in Pontefract in 2017, to become a real piece of the town's history.
Tom Nicholson, Divisional Chairman for Linden Homes, commented on the anniversary of the Foundation: "It is great to see all of the hard work of our teams across the country, and the ways in which we have been able to give something back to the communities we are building in. The Linden Homes Foundation is a successful arm of our growing business, which allows us to really connect with the local people and existing residents of the areas in which we are building new homes.
"Engaging with schools is always a rewarding process and we are delighted to give young people an insight in to the industry and hope to see some of the students enrol on to our Linden Homes Trainee Programme in the future."
The Linden Homes Foundation serves as a collection of the charitable, environmental and community focused work that the housebuilder has pledged, alongside the high-quality homes it builds. These activities range from the green and ecological efforts implemented on site to the refurbishment of local community areas.
