Following its temporary closure earlier this summer – Beverley’s skate park has re-opened, thanks to safety and security maintenance carried out by Linden Homes North.
The house builder, which has recently sold out at its award-winning St Nicholasgate development in the town, is helping to champion local young people in resorting security at the park – which has recently suffered at the hands of vandals.
With the backing of Beverley Town Council, Linden Homes has financed and carried out maintenance to the damaged fence, securing the area and making it safe once again, ahead of its re-opening.
Linden Homes North sales director Steve Woomble said: “During our time of building new homes in Beverley, we have supported the local community in many ways and we certainly recognise the importance of provision for recreational facilities in the town for young people.
“It is sad that responsible users of the skate park have had to suffer because of the actions of a few. We, along with the council, want this to be a safe environment for youngsters to enjoy, and see the work carried out as our continued dedication and commitment to the local community.”
Mayor of Beverley, Cllr Paul McGrath said: “I can only echo the thoughts of Steve Woomble in that it is extremely disappointing to say the least that a facility provided by the Town Council and due to the mindless actions of a few, the majority suffer.
“We appreciate the input of Linden Homes and their willingness to work in partnership with Beverley Town Council to provide much needed recreational facilities for the young of the town. We hope that the skate park will continue to be a much used asset and will be enjoyed by those who need it the most.”
