Sixth form students from Fordwater School in Chichester put on their glad rags and celebrated their graduation in style at a school prom last month, thanks to donations from local organisations.
Twenty-six sixth form students enjoyed the glitz and glamour of a black and white themed evening. Donations were made by several local businesses, including Linden Homes, and family and friends of the school. The donations covered the cost of decorations, a disco and a delicious meal of fish and chips – a night which left many pupils with great memories.
Fordwater School caters for pupils aged 2-19 years with severe and complex learning difficulties. The school is a local education authority school and the catchment area covers approximately a third of West Sussex. Many of the students have additional disabilities and at present there are 120 pupils on roll.
Sue Meekings, Headteacher of Fordwater School said: “As with any group of teenagers, the prom was an eagerly anticipated night and we’re very grateful to those who contributed towards the running costs.
“We had to cater for a diverse range of needs and we wanted the evening to be as inclusive and exciting for them as any prom should be. All the students had a truly memorable night and we wish them all the luck with their futures.”
Linden Homes, which is building new homes at close by at Graylingwell Park, donated £100 towards the decorations. Jo Dixon, Marketing Manager at Linden Homes South, was thrilled the students had an enjoyable evening. She said: “This is the second year we’ve supported Fordwater School’s prom and we’re pleased we could help them host another successful evening.
“All school pupils look forward to their end of year prom – it’s a great occasion to celebrate everything they’ve achieved.”
Graylingwell Park is one of the UK’s largest carbon-neutral developments, offering high quality, energy-efficient homes, with striking architectural design and contemporary interiors.
The sales and marketing suite is open from 10am to 5pm every day.
