Local Housebuilder Pledges Support For Macmillan
25 Jul 2016

Staff at Linden Homes Chiltern’s office in Harefield have pledged their support to national charity, Macmillan as they announce the cancer support organisation as their charity of the year.

From this June until June 2017, the 72 employees will be ambitiously aiming to raise a total of £10,000 for the charity which supports cancer sufferers and the family of those diagnosed with the disease. Macmillan was selected as the chosen charity through an office poll which saw employees cast their votes between three options.

The charitable team is now gearing up for their first sporting event at the London South Tough Mudder in Horsham which will see 10 members of staff ditch their rigger boots for trainers to be put through their paces during a 5 mile obstacle course on 17th September.

Simon Pendlebury, sales and marketing director at Linden Homes Chiltern, said: “When provided with the opportunity to select our charity of the year, staff in our office were really keen to support Macmillan and we are delighted to dedicate our fundraising to such a great cause. Macmillan provides much needed help to thousands of people in the UK and we are pleased to be doing our bit to help the charity and the fundamental services they provide.”

In addition to Tough Mudder, the team are planning a calendar of events, including a summer raffle, senior management challenges along with bake sales and dress down days to help reach their fundraising target.

Nicole Lavelle, Fundraising Manager from Macmillan West London said: “Macmillan relies on fundraising support for 97% of our income so receiving backing from companies such as Linden Homes is vital to support the work we provide to people affected by cancer across the country. By the end of 2016 there will be more than 1,000 people diagnosed with cancer each day in the UK so we are really thankful to Linden Homes for the funds they raise to help support the ever-growing need for our services.”

During Volunteers Week (1-12 June) Linden Homes announced that 2,132 hours of volunteering time had been delivered by its employees across the country over the last 10 months.
