A stylish supply of properties dotted across the beating heart of London has been primed for buyers who need their homes to be fully wheelchair accessible.
Award-winning housebuilder Linden Homes has three collections of apartments in Southwark and Hammersmith where a limited number can be bought off-plan and tailored to suit their owners’ lifestyle and requirements.
At The Residence, for example, in Blackfriars Road, Southwark, six one-bedroom homes have been set aside in which the bathrooms, kitchens, and bedrooms can be custom-fitted for disabled buyers.
The entrance, lifts and communal areas are all the right size and shape for wheelchair access, and the apartments can be fitted with hoist tracks and runs. Traditional bathrooms can be replaced by wet rooms for easier movement.
The Residence also has six parking spaces set aside exclusively for disabled people.
The Residence is just a stone’s throw from the South Bank and its profusion of international theatre, art and food. It is a set of thoughtfully designed studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments.
Each property has a private balcony or terrace providing precious outdoor space above the bustle of the city to enjoy morning coffee, summer evening dinners, or take in the spectacular fireworks of New Year’s Eve, the Thames Festival or the Lord Mayor’s Show.
But househunters will have to act fast to buy the reserved disabled-access properties off plan before the construction window closes in the spring 2015 and it becomes too late for modifications.
Linden Homes is also building apartments in Goldhawk Road, Hammersmith, and nearby in King Street, however, where similar arrangements will be in place for disabled people to enjoy an enviably central location with all the facilities they need.
Linden Homes South East managing director, Darren Maddox, said: “We’re playing our part in the London Plan – the mayor’s strategic vision for the capital – by helping to provide high quality homes all set to be enjoyed by everyone.
“Our three developments are in fantastic locations where anybody would be happy to live, and we’re ready to fit them to suit buyers, whatever their needs. We’re advising people not to delay, however – these homes won’t be available for long.”
All Linden Homes properties come with a 10-year NHBC warranty and two-year customer care warranty for peace of mind.
