Leading local house builder Linden Homes West Midlands has recently handed over some very special miniature homes to three primary schools.
The company has swapped its brick-built homes for something more suited to our feathered friends just in time for National Nest Box Week which runs from 15-19 February.
It hopes that the donation of nest boxes to Barcroft Primary School in Willenhall, Woodlands Primary School in Madeley and Aqueduct Primary School in Dawley will encourage the children to consider nature and the natural environment and the importance of looking after birds.
National Nest Box Week takes place each year and helps garden birds find safe places to nest and raise their young.
Kate Huntington, connections and marketing manager from Linden Homes West Midlands comments: "We're looking to inspire the next generation of budding ornithologists and I hope as many pupils as possible enjoy our National Nest Box Week donation.
"We have an incredibly rich array of bird life in this county and I'm sure the children will be amazed as to what they can spot in the school grounds once the homes are ready."
Mrs Poole, deputy head of Barcroft Primary School said: “We were delighted to have been chosen by Linden Homes and the nest boxes will be a great addition to our playground and for the birds themselves. We look forward to welcoming more varieties into the playground soon.”
Yvonne Crilly, deputy head of Woodlands Primary School, said: “We have an eco council consisting of 22 pupils within school and one of the wishes was to have nest boxes for the eco lodge and forest school area, so it’s been great to have had the donation by Linden Homes."
Mrs Clarke, deputy head teacher of Aqueduct Primary School said: “Many of our pupils have a keen interest in nature and wildflife so to have the donation of nest boxes is a great addition to our playground.”
