Linden Homes’ new development in Totnes is named after the novel ‘The Camomile Lawn,’ so it was fitting that the author’s son officially launched the two new show homes.
Alison Kendall, sales and marketing director for Linden Homes, explained: “The novel is written by Mary Wesley CBE, who lived in Totnes before she passed away in 2002. We were delighted when her son Toby agreed to visit us and open the show homes at Camomile Lawn.
“We love that the marketing name pays homage to Mary Wesley’s popular novel, especially as she was such a key figure in Totnes.”
‘The Camomile Lawn’ (1984) was turned into a television series, and follows the intertwining lives of three families in rural England during World War II.
Toby Eady, Mary Wesley’s son, is a literary agent and lives in London with his wife, author Xinran Xue. He said: “My wife and I were thrilled to be invited to unveil the two show homes at Linden Homes’ Camomile Lawn development in Totnes. My mother loved Totnes and it was wonderful to visit the town again; we were very impressed with the homes and the stunning views.”
Alison added: “Camomile Lawn has been extremely well received, with almost 50% of the first phase of homes already sold off plan. The development is beautifully situated, boasting some fantastic views of Totnes castle and even includes allotments!”
