World Cycling Event Helping To Put Yorkshire On The Map
21 Apr 2017

Yorkshire is famous for many things – tea, The Dales, Alan Bennett and friendly folk. But more recently, parts of the region have been recognised by world-class cyclists.

The Tour De Yorkshire will take in six towns to host start and finish events during the prestigious and popular three-cycle race from April 28.

With head offices in Hessle and Wetherby, Linden Homes East and West Yorkshire regions see the event as further raising the profile of the area.

The race will pass through two major centre where Linden are currently building a number of developments; Pocklington (Wilberforce Manor and The Balk) and Harrogate (Sussex Court and Kent Drive).

The house builder says the Tour de Yorkshire will not only attract some of the world’s best cyclists, but tens of thousands of visitors and spectators to the area – and result in a potential boost for business for the area.

Sales director at LHEY Steve Woomble said: “The Tour De Yorkshire is a huge world class event, and we were delighted to have played a very small part in this a couple of years ago, when the route then past by one of our former developments.

“The fact we have two key locations featuring en route this year, and with an event of this prestige we hope that it will further raise the profile of Yorkshire and highlight what a friendly, prosperous and great place it is to live and work in.”

Meanwhile, a group of 10 staff from Linden Homes East Yorkshire have picked up the cycling mantle and have entered into the Humber Bridge Cycle Sportive, which is now in its fourth year and attracted some 600 riders in 2016.

The event takes place on Sunday 18 June, starting and finishing at the Hesslewood Country Office Park – with the aim of raising as much money as possible for local charities.

Riders, whatever their ability can choose from three routes – either 22, 42 or 62 miles – and each route will take in the quiet roads of North Lincolnshire before returning back to base across the Humber Bridge.
