Runcorn homebuyer saves hundreds on energy bills
Hear from first-time buyer, Abzee, who has made significant savings since moving to a new-build home from a previous rented apartment.

First-time buyer Abzee (31) is set to save more than £800 per year on his energy bills following his move into one of our new build homes at our Hatters Chase development in Runcorn.

Abzee began searching for a more energy efficient property after living in a rented two-bedroom apartment in Salford where he was having to turn the heating on multiple times per day, costing him £205 each month. In his new three-bedroom home, he now only needs to turn the heating on every couple of days - even in winter - with an average monthly cost of £133.

Energy efficiency is creeping up the agenda for many home buyers as a result of rising energy rates, with 36% of home buyers looking for a home with lower energy bills.

Abzee (doctor) explained: “In my previous home, I would have to turn the heating on every morning and again in the evening and it would still never feel warm! In my search for my first home, energy efficiency became a huge priority to avoid spending money on heating my home only for it to be cold again an hour or two later.

“My new home always feels warm, even if the heating hasn’t been on for a day or two. This has been a blessing, especially in the winter months not having to worry about having the heating on constantly and how much it will cost. Not only that, I’ve managed to upgrade my living space from a two-bedroom flat to a three-bedroom house while making great savings.”

Abzee’s home search led him to our Hatters Chase development in Runcorn, where he purchased The Eveleigh, a three-bedroom semi-detached home.

Abzee continued: “I spent a few years moving across the UK, living in flats in London and Manchester as I built up my experience at work. Once I secured a permanent position at a hospital in Runcorn, I knew I wanted to get onto the housing ladder and buy my first home.

“My experience with Linden has been really positive and I couldn’t be happier with my new home. Every time I come home, I feel so happy that the house is all mine - it’s such a different feeling to renting. I can genuinely see myself living happily here for a long time.”

Gemma Hardy, Managing Director, Vistry Merseyside and Cheshire West, commented: “Energy efficiency is front of mind for many of our buyers at the moment and understandably so for buyers like Abzee who’ve noticed significant savings as a result of living in a more efficient property. Our homes are designed to the latest building standards with features to help make our homes more efficient to run without compromising on comfort and style. We’re pleased to have been involved in Abzee’s home buying journey and wish him many years of happiness in his new home.”
