Shinfield – a beautiful country village on the outskirts of Reading

Shinfield is a picturesque village situated just 5 miles South of Reading. This location offers the best of both worlds - you have the beautiful Berkshire countryside on your doorstep, along with fantastic travel links to London etc.  

This quintessential village benefits from a good range of amenities, including an Ofsted rated ‘Good’ nursery, infant and junior schools, churches, a post office, a small supermarket and a Michelin star restaurant, L’Ortolan. There are also two pubs close by; The Black Boy and The Six Bells which are both well regarded on Trip Advisor.

If you want to enjoy some entertainment closer to home, the Shinfield Players Theatre is just 3 miles away and is where you can watch a range of plays and dramas all year round. For keen shoppers, Shinfield also boasts easy access (less than 20 minutes) to one of Europe’s largest central hub shopping centres, the newly generated Lexicon Centre in Bracknell and the Festival Place in Basingstoke.

What’s close to Shinfield?

If you want to explore the surrounding areas near our property for sale in Shinfield. For a larger town, head to nearby Reading - where business and pleasure definitely mix. You’ll enjoy a great selection of high street shops and department stores inside the Oracle Shopping Centre, or the pedestrianised Broad Street also provides a good array of big brand retailers. Both day and night, the town is packed with fun and excitement; there’s bustling bars, countless restaurants serving cuisine from around the world, a multiplex cinema, theatres and concert halls where you can immerse yourself in everything from live music to stand-up comedy.

7 miles away is the market town of Wokingham, which offers something for everyone. The town is also home to a general market every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday and a farmers’ market once a month.

By rail, Reading Station is a just 6 miles away, providing services to just about any station you need to get to; from London to the West Country and the Midlands to the South Coast. Regular direct services can have you in Oxford in 25 minutes, London Paddington* in approximately 30 minutes, and Southampton in under an hour.
