Why make Yorkshire your home?

If you’re searching for houses for sale in Yorkshire, you’ll find there’s a great deal to be discovered in this beautiful county. Yorkshire is not only the largest county in the United Kingdom, but it is also one the most diverse. For those who enjoy the outdoors, the county’s two major national parks, the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors, offer miles upon miles of unspoilt countryside, while the Peak District, which is accessible from West and South Yorkshire, is a popular destination for outdoor pursuits including cycling, walking, and rock climbing.

Yorkshire is also home to a number of thriving cities and towns, the largest of which is Leeds. A modern city with a rich industrial past, this culturally diverse, compact city offers something for everyone, be it shopping, sporting events, or family days out. In the north of the county, you’ll find the historic city of York - a walled city that was founded by the ancient Romans, a must-visit for any history lover. Yorkshire is also home to the picturesque Harrogate, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and home to charming market towns Boroughbridge, Knaresborough, Masham and Pateley Bridge. With so much to see and do throughout the county, Yorkshire is not just a great place to visit, it's the ideal place to call home.

Getting in, around and out of Yorkshire

Yorkshire’s excellent road and rail links make the county easily accessible to all. Yorkshire is well served by the national rail network, with the Cross Country service offering regular services from across South West England and the Midlands, while Northern Rail provides excellent city links for commuters. For those travelling South, the London North Eastern Railway (LNER) offers fast and frequent trains to London Kings Cross from a number of Yorkshire’s towns and cities.

By road, the M1 and A1 provide excellent links from the South, M5 and M42 from the South West, and M6 and M4 from North Wales and South Wales respectively. If heading North, the M62 and A1 serve as the main routes in and out of Yorkshire. Regular bus services also operate in all major towns and cities.

The Yorkshire region is also served by three airports, Leeds Bradford International Airport, Humberside Airport, and Doncaster Sheffield Airport, which between them provide daily flights to many destinations within the UK and throughout Europe. All airports are served by excellent transport links, making Yorkshire one of the most accessible counties in the country.
